Redline was the last "Hurrah!" of "Old" MADHOUSE, the following year(s) the main stay of staff left the studio leaving it a shell of it's former self. (When CG hit the scene notice how the first thing to kick the can across all animation, east and west, was hand drawn vehicles.) The staff had miniature toy vehicles of the film made in real life so it can assist them in the drawing at a visual level. Redline took on one of the hardest jobs when it comes to animation, animating moving vehicles. Redline took 7 years to make containing over 100,000 hand drawn images.
